LAB: Orientation and Cropping:

Split Toning & Output

Project Description

Instructions

Output a digital file with a specific orientation and size.

Grading is based on creativeness, use of standard rules of art & design, mastery of Photoshop/Lightroom skills, and ability to follow these directions:

Landscape

  1. Choose one of your own photos in LANDSCAPE orientation from your Lightroom Library, one that is obviously a great choice for a LANDSCAPE orientation.
  2. Edit it using the develop module.
  3. Select the Crop Tool panel and create a CUSTOM CROP aspect ratio of 36:12.
  4. Drag the crop and position your photo within the crop with a good composition.
  5. Create an export based on your original preset but change the IMAGE SIZING to LONG EDGE, 36 INCHES at 240 PPI. Save the preset.
  6. Export it to the Hand-in Folder using LANDSCAPE for the assignment name.
  7. Export another using your original preset (not the new one just created).
  8. Upload the exported photo to the LAB Orientation Gallery on the Website.

Portrait

  1. Choose one of your own photos in PORTRAIT orientation from your Lightroom Library, one that is obviously a great choice for a PORTRAIT orientation.
  2. Edit it using the develop module.
  3. Select the Crop Tool panel and use the same aspect ratio you created above.
  4. Drag and turn the crop to PORTRAIT orientation and position your photo within the crop with a good composition.
  5. Create an export based on your original preset but change the IMAGE SIZING to LONG EDGE, 36 INCHES at 240 PPI. Save the preset.
  6. Export it to the Hand-in Folder using PORTRAIT for the assignment name.
  7. Export another using your original preset (not the new one just created).
  8. Upload the exported photo to the Orientation Gallery on the Website.
