Project Description
Artist Presentation
Masters of Photography
Over the past 120 years or so, photography has developed into many genres or categories. A genre can be defined as a style of artistic work. For example, rap, rock, classical and country and western are different genres of music. The same can be said for photography. In photography, there are many genres such as aerial photography, wedding photography, product photography, slow motion photography, and so on.
Among photographers, there are those who have stood out as having exceptional talent in taking photographs. Many of these photographers specialized in a specific genre. For example, Ansel Adams did nature and landscape, Irving Penn did fine art and fashion, Yousuf Karsh did portraits while Garry Winogrand specialized in documentary photography.
The Project
You will be creating a PowerPoint presentation about a professional photographer. Your presentation must be at least seven slides, including a title page and end slide.
You will have one class period to complete it.
Step 1 – Choose and Research an Artist
First, CHOOSE AN ARTIST. Using Bing or Google, research some of the artists listed on the right. Find one who’s work interests you.
Second, PLAN OUT YOUR PRESENTATION. To get an “A” grade, timelines must include the following items:
- A Title Page with the name and a photo of the artist/photographer. Include your name and number on the bottom right.
- At least 5 slides for content.
- 3 important facts about the artist
- At least one photograph on every slide
- Reflection about the artist
Use online research tools to gather photos, diagrams, drawings, etc. Or make them yourself! You can copy and paste images into the presentation. Be sure to include titles and attribute them to the author. (To copy an image, CTRL+ click on the image and select Copy Image)
