BDP-Week 7
We’ll be looking at layering our photos to show depth and distance this week. Sam Abell (the Artist of the Week) is going to give us some instruction (video) on how to “Compose and Wait” as well as how to get depth in your photos.
I look forward to meeting your parents on Wednesday! Have you been showing off your work to them? Each week you should see your photography improve (and the technical stuff gets easier, too).
By now you should have all of the technical stuff down. If you are still struggling, please come see me or use open lab time to practice and learn. If you have not learned how to download, develop and resize your photos, you will get frustrated and not enjoy the class and miss all the fun! And I would not want that to happen to any of you.

Assignments and Assessments (Due This Week)
- NEW! Scavenger Hunt: (Assessment) – Instead of a quiz this week, you will be going on a Scavenger Hunt (internet) to find photos that demonstrate what we learned about COMPOSITION and the Elements and Principles of Design. Get the assignment HERE.
- PIXEL QUIZ: Will still be on Skyward this week. All quizzes are open book, so you only have one shot. Use your notes, Google, or the class website for answers. I would rather you find the right answer than not know it at all. The Pixels and Resolution Study Guide is located here.
Journal
- Topic of the Week: Work on your Topic of the Week in your journal (see below).
- Artist of the Week: You can start on the Artist of the Week at any time (see below).
- TAKE NOTES! – You should be taking notes on all of the class instruction. Be sure to title and number your pages and create an entry in your table of contents.
Weekly Regulars
- IMPORTANT: Challenge 02 REDO: If you want to increase your score on the Challenges, you will need to turn in new/corrected files. Complete the REDO sheet on the back of your Challenge Scoresheet then put in the turn-in basket.
- IMPORTANT: Challenge 02 LATE: If you didn’t turn in your photo on time, you have until Thursday to turn it in for half credit. TURN IN THE COMPLETED LATE PASS to the hand-in basket.
- IMPORTANT: X-Files: Check Hand-in folder to see if you have any X-files (files that are incorrect), then turn in corrected files. Ask your Photo Buddy or other fellow student for help if needed.
- Challenge 03 : Due Thurs, 3:30pm. You may turn it in anytime before the due date, either during class time or open lab time. MAKE SURE YOU READ AND FOLLOW THE CHALLENGE GOALS.
